Abbiamo già otto tracce e un pezzo nuovo pronto, che è un “pezzone” – sottolinea Leo – ma lui non lo vuole fare», indica sorridendo Daniele, il chitarrista/cantante. È piuttosto evidente che sia lui il rompipalle, il perfezionista del gruppo: ce n’è uno in ogni band. E Leo precisa: «Non ci vogliono altri aggettivi, non è né un perfezionista né niente: è un rompipalle e basta!».

Comunque mai dire mai, vedremo cosa succede, potremmo anche inserire almeno un pezzo in italiano nel disco». «In ogni caso – aggiungono gli altri – per ora rimarremo, naturalmente, sulla nostra linea anche perché non abbiamo ancora testato il vero potenziale di questo progetto, se funziona davvero. Il disco sarà un passaggio fondamentale».
Parliamo di synth e strumenti elettronici e gli chiedo se il fatto che non li usino, ora che a usarli sono praticamente tutti, sia una scelta ben precisa o meno. «Adesso sì, è diventata un scelta. All’inizio semplicemente abbiamo cominciato suonando ciò che avevamo, in base solo agli strumenti di ognuno, ma dopo un attimo abbiamo avuto subito chiaro in testa quello che volevamo fare, che tipo di musica ci rappresentasse. Così ora sentiamo di non avere bisogno di altro: ci piace questa formazione, ci sentiamo completi così. Abbiamo anche tentato di inserire una chitarra elettrica in un pezzo, ma niente, non ci stava proprio, o almeno a noi è sembrata fuori posto. Forse è questo che ci caratterizza: l’essenzialità e l’apparente povertà di strumenti. Anche da questo punto di vista però non escludiamo niente, magari in futuro potremmo cambiare idea: la musica, come ogni cosa, è in continua evoluzione, è normale volersi rinnovare, voler scoprire cose nuove. Il cambiamento ci sta».
Mi sembrano molto tranquilli, molto più sorridenti e rilassati di quando li ho conosciuti in terra lucana. «Di solito l’ansia arriva un quarto d’ora prima del live», dice Mattia. «Poi c’è anche da dire che adesso cominciamo pian piano ad abituarci a suonare dal vivo. «Siamo tranquilli anche perché siamo già molto soddisfatti di essere arrivati fin qui. È già un grande risultato. Poi è importante avere obiettivi come questo: prepararsi per la finale di un contest ti aiuta a rimanere concentrato ed essere più produttivo, il che non è sempre facile considerando che ci sono anche il lavoro e lo studio. Ed è utile non solo per non perdere di vista gli obiettivi, ma anche perché partecipare ai contest finora ci ha fatto avere molti feedback positivi. Avere un riscontro rispetto a quello che si fa ti dà una mano a non demoralizzarti e a pensare 'Dai, allora forse non siamo poi tanto male!'». Sorridono.

È un momento bellissimo, del resto il batterista non ha nemmeno diciotto anni, ed essere alla finale nazionale di Arezzo Wave è un ottimo risultato.
Continuiamo a sfidare la realtà sahariana bevendo birra Moretti tra le zanzare che ci divorano e ora non resta che aspettare. Il verdetto sul vincitore arriverà a ottobre ma noi intanto, da buoni “epochè”, sospendiamo il giudizio.
